Usually, the history of video game failures is pretty simple. Either the games, the hardware, or the marketing stinks. But there was one failure that was an all around near perfect product, and yet it failed anyway - The SEGA Dreamcast. Why?
Classic Game Room HD - SEGA CD console review, Mega CD!
Author: Admin01 7th, 2009

Classic Game Room HD reviews the SEGA CD add-on for the Sega Genesis video game console! Or the Mega CD for those of you with Megadrives. Same thing, different colors and name. The Sega CD was originally released by Sega in 1992, updated with the model 2 in 1994/1995. It plays.. you guessed it, SEGA CD games! The MegaCD is a pretty cool device that attached to your Mega Drive (which is Mega rad) and plays compact discs with awesome video games on them like Android Assault, Silpheed, Robo Aleste and Sewer Shark. CD media is different than cartridges and back in the day this was pretty high technology. Should you buy a Sega CD? Will your MD collection be better off if kept company by a stack of Sega CD games? Well... yes. Classic Game Room goes into great detail to look over the Mega CD and review how it works, functions and operates. CGRHD is the money bomb when it comes to retro gaming reviews. Word up!
CGRHD reviews SEGA DREAMCAST CONTROLLER
Author: Admin01 7th, 2009

Classic Game Room HD reviews the mighty, mighty Sega Dreamcast controller for the Sega Dreamcast video game system. Sega's last foray into the gaming hardware market left us with an increble piece of machinery that sadly, failed to succeed in the markets of Japan, Europe and the United States for the long term. Although the Dreamcast has been discontinued echoes of the date 9/9/99 live on in the form of this full functional and very creative controller. Plug in your LCD screen VMU card and get ready for gaming action with an LCD screen..... so you can look at two screens at once. Does your Dreamcast screech and beep and make noise when starting up? That means your VMU batteries are dead. You can replace the battery (actually two 2303 batteries from Radio Shack) and the noises go away. Play awesome dreamcast games like Chu Chu Rocket, Test Drive Le Mans, Sword of the Berserk, Draconus, Sega GT, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Mars Matrix, Crazy Taxi, Giga Wing and Shenmue with this controller. Go Sonic the Hedgehog, go!!! SEGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember how awesome those old Sega commercials were? Nobody can make a commercial with screaming like Sega could. SEGA... SEGA... SEGA... DREAMCAST!

Snatcher - full intro /SEGA CD/
Author: Admin01 7th, 2009

Snatcher is a cyberpunk-themed adventure game written and directed by Hideo Kojima. It was developed and published by Konami. Originally released in Japan for the NEC PC-8801 and MSX2 in 1988, it was remade for the PC-Engine in 1992 and ported to the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn in 1996. It was released for the Sega CD in North America and its counterpart, the Mega CD in Europe, in 1994, in what is the game's first and only official English version. Snatcher has gained a small cult following due to its mature storytelling, adult themes and (in later versions) voice acting. It was heavily influenced by various sci-fi and noir films, most notably Blade Runner (main character and city views), The Terminator (the snatchers) and Dune (random, freemen)

Classic Game Room HD reviews DOUBLE DRAGON for the Sega Master System from 1988. This Double Dragon review shows gameplay and footage from this game which is better known on the Nintendo Entertainment System. The NES version of Double Dragon, which will be reviewed in a different review from this reviewer, will show the differences between the Sega Double Dragon and the Nintendo Double Dragon. Doubel Dragon was released for the arcade in 1987 in Japan and is regarded as one of the first 2D side scrolling beat em up video games. The Sega version is a 2 player co-op game like Streets of Rage. Walk along and punch bad guys with that 1980s arcade style, use clubs, bats and whips to beat them into a bloody mess. Double Dragon represents that two dimensional violent street fighting kind of game that has vanished in recent years. Released by Technos for the Sega in 1988 this is one of the worst versions of Double Dragon out there and is probably not worth your money. There are better games on the Sega Master System like Shinobi, Space Harrier and Zillion. Double Dragon should be played on Xbox Live Arcade, the NES or on a stand up arcade machine.
Classic Game Room HD - SILPHEED for Sega CD review
Author: Admin01 7th, 2009

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of SILPHEED for the Sega CD add-on for the Sega Genesis Megadrive 16-bit video game console. The Mega Drive had a few short lived add-ons like the SegaCD and 32x. Silpheed originally came out years earlier, I had a copy of it for the PC back in the day. This version uses an early polygon graphical system and looks dates, but plays as well as any of the best SHMUPS out today. This is a tremendous SHMUP vertical scrolling space shooter where you pilot the lone spaceship against wave after wave of alien bad guys. Blow them up with a variety of weapons and power ups in this 3D universe created for the Sega in 1993. Rockin' electric music thumps away as you blast those bad guys into space dust! Silpheed may not be one of the best shooters ever made, but it is a sleeper hit that holds up well against today's games because of the well created gameplay and difficulty. Maniac shooters like Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga are better known now, but Silpheed does not disappoint as you can see from the footage. This game should be made into a new 2D shooter with 3-D elements for the PS3, Xbox 360 Live Arcade or Wii. There was a Silpheed released for the PS2 called Silpheed Lost Planet. Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD. The HD series is reviewing PS3, PS2, Genesis, NES, Atari and Xbox 360. XBLA. videos review reviews show wii

Classic Game Room HD reviews a competition between two video game console powerhouses, the SEGA DREAMCAST vs. the MAGNAVOX ODYSSEY 2. Which gaming system is the winner, the Sega Dreamcast or the Magnavox Odyssey 2? Watch this detailed review and find out. The Sega Dreamcast is a popular game system that was released in North America in 1999. The Magnavox Odyssey 2 is a classic cartridge based game console released in 1978. In some ways these two game systems could not be more different... in some ways they could not be more alike. The Sega Dreamcast has Sonic, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur and Chu Chu Rocket. The Magnavox Odyssey 2 has K.C. Munchkin, KC's Krazy Chase, War of Nerves and Invaders from Hyperspace. Each game console costs about $40 today, used, and games are readily available and frequently inexpensive. Sega is well known for the amazing array of arcade titles, machines and game consoles like the Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Megadrive, Game Gear and Sega Saturn. Magnavox is known for.... televisions. Maybe they made boom boxes too, and lots of other stuff. This is an interesting and entertaining look at two video game consoles with short life spans. It didn't have to be that way, and it doesn't. You can buy the Dreamcast, Odyssey 2 and stacks of games for a fraction of the price of a new PS3 or Xbox 360. Classic Game Room loves classic retro systems as much as the new ones, and this competition of Sega Dreamcast vs Magnavox Odyssey 2 is one of our finest examples of how completely insane we are. We've already compared the Atari 2600 versus the Playstation 2 and the Atari 7800 vs. the PS3 and the Xbox 360 vs. the NES... why not this side by side awesome console comparison? CGRHD!

Classic Game Room HD - SEGA POWER BASE CONVERTER review
Author: Admin01 7th, 2009

Classic Game Room HD reviews the Sega Power Base Converter for the Sega Genesis. This amazing device allows you to play Sega Master System games on the Sega Genesis! The Sega Master system is an older video game console than the Megadrive and was released in 1986 in the United States. The SMS has a huge collection of excellent games like Shinobi, Out Run, Thunder Blade, Golvellius, Hang On and F-16 Fighting Falcon. The Sega Genesis is the 16-bit hero from Sega that was released in 1989 and is legendary today. Regrettably the Master System failed to compete against the Nintendo Entertainment System and is somewhat obscure today. Bring it back! The Power Base Converter is the perfect way to rock those old Master System games with your Sega Genesis any time, any where! Classic Game Room buys a SEGA SATURN video game console
Author: Admin01 7th, 2009

It's an ADVENTURE!! Classic Game Room buys a SEGA SATURN video game console system!!! This action packed behind the scenes adventure film follows Classic Game Room to the front lines of video editing all the way into Squirrel Hill to buy a used Sega Saturn. The Saturn was not one of Sega's most successful video game consoles, in fact you could say it failed horribly. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't some great games for it like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Virtua Fighter 2, Darius Gaiden, DoDonPachi, Doom, Shenmue, Guardian Heroes, Panzer Dragoon Zwei II, Sega Rally, Shining Force III, Snatcher and Sonic Jam. It is well known for 2D games like vertical and horizontal scrolling shooters, or SHMUPS like Gunbird. The SHMUP genre was never as popular in the United States and most people didn't give a hoot about the Saturn because they were too busy playing Playstation back in the mid to late 1990's. Well, whatever. Classic Game Room certainly doesn't care if most other people thumbed their nose at it, we're getting one, and here's the movie depicting the journey to Saturn!!!!

Watch in High Def! Classic Game Room HD reviews the 1987 Sega of America catalog for the Sega Master System! This catalog is a fold out poster that came in game packages for SMS games and consists of colorful artwork and a list of software titles that they want you to buy. Games included on there are Zillion, the Ninja, Rocky, Space Harrier and many more. How does this Sega catalog compare to the 1982 Atari 2600 catalog that CGRHD previously reviewed? We found it in the box for R-Type on the Master System and unfolded it and were very excited, so excited in fact that we decided to review it for you! Enjoy this old school review from retro reviewer and modern game reviewer Classic Game Room, reviewing games from the 70's, 80's, 90's and today.
Classic Game Room reviews SEGA MASTER SYSTEM controller
Author: Admin01 7th, 2009

Classic Game Room reviews the SEGA MASTER SYSTEM controller for the Sega Master System video game console. This controller also works with Master System games played on the Sega Genesis (aka Mega Drive or Megadrive) with the awesome Power Base Converter. It also makes a great replacement controller for the Atari 7800 Prosystem because the controller port is identical and it uses 2 buttons. Classic Game Room brings you the best in new and retro video game reviews. If you like old school gaming accessories, consoles, joysticks and controllers then you should be watching CGRHD!
CGRHD reviews SEGA GENESIS MODEL 2 game console
Author: Admin01 7th, 2009

Classic Game Room HD reviews the Sega Genesis Model 2 video game system console. The Sega Genesis Model 2 is the smaller Genesis that was released in 1994. The Sega Genesis was first launched in the united states in 1989 with the model 1, the model 2 is much smaller, was less expensive and had a few things removed like the headphone volume control. The Genesis is known as the Mega Drive (or Megadrive) in Europe and looks more or less the same. All Mega Drive (Megadrive) games play on the model 1 and model 2, depending on if yours is US, Japanese, European, etc... There is even a Model 3 MD which is the smallest of the bunch. This video reviews the build quality and features of the Model 2 vs. the Model 1. There are hundreds of amazing 16-bit games for the Genesis like Sonic the Hedgehog, Revenge of Shinobi, Jungle Strike and X-Men. Your Model 1 controllers will work with Model 2, they have the same connectors. Check it out, see if buying a Model 2 Sega Genesis is right for you, or if you should pick up a used Model 1. SEGA!
