This incident was video recorded by Simon Lowe. 233 people where on board this jet bound for Lanzarote. The number 2 engine sucks in one bird (a crow or corvid) as the plane rotates off the runway. T.V. news reports of two herons being sucked in are wrong. Congratulations to the crew and air-traffic controllers for the calm and professional way they dealt with the situation. maybe the remedy for bird strike is to have air ported from above on take off then only from front at good altitude?

Yes, That's when the training comes in. Excellent Radio Transmission, Handling & full recovery to Wallasey for a return to 06L. BYAI.
  17. Nulty Says:
Great video and soundtrack and superlative airmanship and ATC. I flew on a Britannia Airways flight in the early 90's which had a compressor stall on take off resulting in repeated banging and flames from the engine. May have been a bird strike or another cause - I dont't know. After levelling off and the pilot announced what had happened over the intercom, and that it was the first time it had happened in his career but something they train for in the simulators :-)
  18. NDILA Says:
Maybe because it happened at EGCC but I understand your point, it is amazing to be able to hear the pilots being so calm and this standard is maintained throughout the world mostly due to the CAA.
  19. AKIL Says:
very professional and very well recoreded !
  20. ACESTES Says:
Lol ministryod10 that would be "grammar" not "grammEr" your spelling sucks.
  21. Teon Says:
    dang birds cause disaters :|
  22. Zaneta Says:
    Man your grammer is horrible!
  23. Roberto Says:
Wallasey is not an airport, it's a navigation beacon which in this case is used as a position to hold (circle) until ready to land. ATC offered Liverpool airport as an alternative.
  24. Camraya Says:
I do wonder what this has to do with British? Do you actually think that only British people work like this? I'm a Dutch pilot and have worked in many places in Europe and Asia. This kind of work is not by any means limited to just British, thank you very much.
  25. EADAION Says:
    i was on this plane
